Uff-Da is something that the locals say around here. It means: oh man, umph, oops, bummer, etc.
The Norwegians settled in ND and are the host to the largest festival called Norsk Hostfest (pronounced Whoostfest). It is huuuuuuge and draws a lot of country stars - this year it's Reba, George Jones, that guy that sings The Streak, Clint Black. There are other lesser stars that perform during the day - we listened to the Oak Ridge Boys earlier. The tickets are $35 per person and we did not intend to go this year. However, they had military appreciation day and we got in free! Everything was beautiful and pricey. The people were wonderful (as usual) and little A was our tour guide. He had attended the Hostfest earlier this week on a fieldtrip. We were going to buy a memento and big A picked out a new popcorn bowl. It was neat and made of wood. Unfortunately, it was $195 and not $19.50 like he thought. He said, it's made out of wood?!?
